      Happy World Oceans Day! I’m incredibly honored to Happy World Oceans Day! I’m incredibly honored to be the Winner of the William Hammer Blackwater Category in the Ocean Geographic Pictures of the Year Competition 2026. This image is of a tiny larval marine snail (veliger), photographed earlier this year during a blackwater dive in Anilao, Philippines. Every time I photograph underwater, I’m reminded of how much beauty and wonder exists beneath the surface. On World Oceans Day, I hope this image inspires others to appreciate and protect our incredible marine world. A huge thank you to Michael Aw, the judges, and my guide Dexter Mendoza for making this experience possible.
